JALANDHAR
The growing crisis of air pollution and climate change is posing severe health and environmental challenges with each passing day.
Recognizing the need for collective, locally grounded solutions, the District Administration, Jalandhar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lung Care Foundation to drive sustained action for cleaner air and healthier communities.
The MoU was formally signed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amaninder Kaur Brar and Dr. Rajiv Khurana, Founder-Trustee, Lung Care Foundation, who reiterated the commitment to promoting clean air, strengthening health advocacy, addressing crop residue burning, and enhancing sustainable and circular practices to improve air quality and public health in District Jalandhar.
Lung Care Foundation (LCF), through its Doctors for Clean Air and Climate Action (DFCA) program, in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) will work closely with the District Administration, Jalandhar to create public awareness on the health impacts of air pollution with focus on stubble burning, strengthening district-level policies, supporting sustainable crop residue management, and promoting capacity building through data-driven, locally aligned interventions.
This partnership underscores a shared vision: to protect public health by restoring clean air as a basic right. It also reaffirms the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in shaping healthier, climate-resilient communities.
