Ensuring children’s safety on roads: ATO holds meeting with school managements

To ensure safe and secure transportation for children under the Safe School Vahan Scheme, Assistant Transport Officer Kamlesh Kumari has launched a series of meetings with school managements for proper implementation of this policy. A meeting in this regard was held today at IVY World School, Jalandhar.

During the meeting, ATO Kamlesh Kumari emphasized that documents of every school transport bus, including RC, PUC, insurance, permit, vehicle fitness certificate, and the driver and conductor’s driving license, fitness certificate, and medical test reports must always be available with the vehicle driver at all times. She stressed that these measures are crucial to ensuring the safety of children travelling in school buses.

The ATO further directed the school authorities to take feedback from parents from time to time to ascertain if they are satisfied with the safety and services being provided in the school buses. She clearly stated that if any deficiencies are found during inspections, the school management will be held responsible for any lapses under the policy.

The ATO reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children through the transparent implementation of the Safe Scheme Vahan policy.

Prominent among those present during the meeting included IVY School’s Director Principal Sanjeev Chauhan, Director Admin Retired Colonel Manjit Singh, Chief Admin Officer Satish Kumar Bhannot, Nirmaljit Singh Parmar, Transport Manager Arun Kumar Dogra, Sarabjit Singh, and from the parents’ side, Ms Mukta, Major Rohan, Shiraj Anav Mishra, and Paramjit Singh.
