The Shahkot police have arrested a Hoshiar Pur resident on the charge of abetting suicide.
Investigating officer IO) Sukhwindar Pal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Mohindar Ram, a resident of Kirti Nagar, Hoshiar Pur.
Sukhjit Kaur, wife of the deceased Sukhwindar Singh, a resident of Model Town, Shahkot, had complained to the police that her husband was working as a clerk in Overseas Indian Bank, Nakodar, and the accused Ashok Kumar had taken Rs 2,40 lakhs from them, and Rs 80000 remained area.
She had said that whenever we demanded money back, we were insulted, and this became a headache for her husband, who committed suicide by consuming sulphone tablets on July 3, and wrote a suicide note blaming all the accused for his death.
IO said that a case under section 108(abetment of suicide) of the BNS was registered against the accused. and others
