The Nurmahal police have booked five persons, including a retired kanugo, on charges of encroaching on shops and theft.
Investigating officer (IO) Davindar Singh said the accused have been identified as Jarnail Singh, a resident of Kot Badal Khas village, and living in Jalandhar city, and his five unidentified accomplices, including a woman.
Karnail Singh, a resident of Kot Badal Khan village, complained to the police that the accused, who is his brother, and his five accomplices encroached on his five shops in the village in February and stole the starter and wires of his motor.
IO said a case under sections 329(2)(4) (criminal trespass and house trespass), and 303(2) ( theft in dwelling house
) of the BNS has been registered against the accused after inquiry.
The Bilga police also booked five persons for encroaching land of Amarjit Singh, a resident of Mowai village, said IO Vijay Kumar
