The Shahkot police have booked three travel agents for allegedly duping a villager of Rs 6 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
Investigating Officer (IO) Sarwann Singh said that the accused had been identified as Nishan Aroar, son of
Surinder Kumar, a resident of Employees Colony, Shahkot, and as Surindar Kumar and Lovely, sons of
Kishan Lal, residents of the same locality.
Harjinder Singh, a resident of Bajwa Kalan village, complained to the Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he had paid Rs 6 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son's migration abroad. However, neither was he sent abroad, nor did he get the money back.
IO said a case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC has been
registered against the accused after an inquiry, and further investigation was in progress.
