The Nakodar Sadar police have booked eight villagers in including two women, on the charge of assaulting a co-villager.
Investigating officer (IO)Jiwan Singh said that the accused have s been identified as Kulwant Singh, son of
Surindar Singh, a resident of Tahli village, his wife Rajwindar Kaur, sons Manjindar Singh and Saiman
Singh, and daughter-in-law Rajveer Kaur and their three unidentified accomplices.
Harpreet Singh, a resident of the same village, complained to the police that the accused waylaid him on June 17 and attacked him with sharp weapons, seriously injuring him on June 17, and threatened him with dire consequences. He said a land dispute is the reason behind the attack, and a court case is pending, and the two accused are his cousins, who want to encroach on his land. He said the accused also stole his gold chain, which fell on the ground during the attack.
IO said that a case under sections 115(2) 118(1) 4(voluntarily causing grievous hurt) 351(2(criminal
ntimidation) 126(2)(wrongful restraint), 190(3)(rioting armed with deadly weapons ), and 191(unlawful
assembly) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
