The Lohian Khas police have arrested a gangster on the charge of extortion and criminal conspiracy.
Station House Officer(SHO) Labh Singh said that the accused has been identified as Anmolpreet Singh alias Mela, son of Nishan Singh, a resident of Yusaf Pur Allewal village.
SHO said that the accused was demanding huge amounts of money from residents, threatening to kill them in case of failure.
SHO said a case under section 308(5 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt ), 351(3) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS and section 25/54/59 of the Rams Act was registered against the accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that the police did not release any news in this regard and kept the FIR a secret.
