NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have booked eighteen villagers on the charge of assaulting a co-villager.
Investigating officer (IO) Janak Raj said that the accused have been identified as Dapindar, Jiwan, Jiti, Sukhpreet, Happy, another Jiti Ram, and their 12 accomplices, all residents of Nur Pur Chatha village.
Surjit Singh, a resident of the same village, complained to the police that he was sitting in a room of Bhagwan Balmik Temple after paying obeisance with other devotees when the accused barged into the temple and attacked him with sharp weapons and seriously injured him on May 18 late evening, and ransacked CCTV cameras, water cooler and other items of temple.
IO said that a case under sections 115(2), 118(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 351(2) (criminal conspiracy), 191(3) (rioting) 190(unlawful assembly) and 324(mischief) , of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
The Bilga police also booked two villagers of Talwann village for assaulting Harbhajan Lal of the same village, said the IO, Vijay Kumar
