JALANDHAR
Punjab Horticulture, Freedom Fighters and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat today inaugurated a new fire station at the local Sports and Surgical Complex in Jalandhar, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 1.29 crore.
The Cabinet Minister said that with the support of the Punjab Government, this project will assist in the timely control of fire incidents.
Highlighting the significance of the facility, Mr. Bhagat said the area is known for its sports, surgical, leather, and rubber industries, and having a fire station here will ensure a prompt response in case of any fire-related emergencies.
The Cabinet Minister informed that the fire station is equipped with a total of four vehicles: one with a capacity of 12,000 litres, two of 6,000 litres each and one rescue tender. Additionally, an underground water storage tank with a capacity of 1 lakh litres has been constructed, supported by a 20-horsepower motor.
Mayor Vineet Dhir congratulated the residents on the establishment of the fire station and said this would further strengthen the administration’s capacity to tackle fire incidents. Chairperson of the Fire Brigade Committee, Davinderpal Kaur, Divisional Fire Officer Jaswant Singh Kahlon, officials and staff of the Municipal Corporation and Fire Brigades, were present.
