'Yudh Nashian Virudh': Libraries worth over Rs. 2 crores to be built in District to connect youth with books

JALANDHAR 17:
Under the Punjab Government’s ongoing campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh', efforts are underway to build libraries to reconnect young minds with books. Following the ideology of Baba Sahib Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the state government is not only revamping schools under the ‘Punjab Sikhiya Kranti’ but is also establishing new libraries.

To review the progress of libraries under construction in the district, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal chaired a high-level meeting with concerned officials and instructed them to expedite the construction work.

Providing more information, Dr. Aggarwal informed that six libraries are being constructed in the district with an estimated cost of over Rs. 2 crore. He said these libraries will serve as guiding beacons for the youth. While the state government is building sports infrastructure to foster a healthy lifestyle, the initiative to set up libraries is aimed at instilling a reading culture among young people.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the libraries are being constructed in Basti Danishmandan, Basti Bawa Khel, Chugitti, Vijay Nagar, and under the Municipal Committees of Nakodar and Bilga. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely completion so that the facilities can be dedicated to the youth timely. He also emphasized ensuring timely arrangements for furniture and other necessary infrastructure in the libraries.

Dr. Aggarwal added that a constructive environment is being created to help youth trapped in the web of drug addiction find freedom and reconnect with books.
