The Mehat Pur police have arrested two criminals on the charge of snatching and drug peddling.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) Onkar Singh Bra said that the accused have been identified as Vijay son of Mangi a resident of Malrri village under Nakodar city police station and Balraj Singh alias Jas son of Gurdev Singh a resident of Pachharrian village.
Harbans Lal a resident of Ismail Pur village complained to the police that he was going to Hari Pur village on April 8 to withdraw his old age pension on his scooter when the accused riding a motor cycle waylaid him near Tandaura village and snatched his scooter and purse containing Rs 400 at the point of a toy pistol.
DSP said 240 intoxicant tablets were recovered from their possession and a case under sections 309(6) (robbery) and 3(5) (committing crime with common intention) of the BNS and sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and recovered a stolen motor cycle and scooter adding that the accused are notorious criminals and cases are pending against them.
