The Mehatpur police have booked four members of in-laws’ family for dowry harassment
Investigating Officer (IO) Nishan Singh said that the accused have been identified as Jagjit Singh a resident of Daulat Pur village in Feroze Pur , his father Gurmail Singh , mother Balveer Kaur and sister Gurpreet Kaur .
Parwindar Kaur wife of Jagjit Singh and residing at Daria Wale village complained to the police that she was being harassed for dowry even since her marriage and threatened and forced her to leave house.
IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) 506(criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy of the IPC has been registered against the accused adding that case under sections of IPC has been registered as incident occurred in the past
