The Mehat Pur police have booked a migrant travel agent for allegedly duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs.29.98 lakhs on the pretext of sending hm abroad.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar who is investigating this case said that the accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar son of Meer Chand a resident of Chamba village in Unna district, Himachal Pradesh and presently living at Dashmesh Nagar Khararr in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Harkirat Singh a resident of Sohal Jagir village under Shahkot police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 29.98 Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to England but he was not sent abroad not returned the money.
DSP said a case under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating)of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry adding that case has been registered under sections of IPC as incident occurred in the past.
