The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a Nakodar travel agent for allegedly duping two citizens of Rs 37 lakhs on the pretext of sending them to USA.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh, who is investigating this case, said the accused has been identified as Satnam Singh alias Bagga son of Hans Raj a resident of Uggi village under Nakodar Sadar police station.
Dinesh Sainni a resident of Bala Pindi village in Gurdass Pur and Manish Singh a resident of Wadala village in Pathan Kot village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that they paid Rs 37 lakhs to the accused for their migration to USA but they were sent to Dubai and forced to run from pillar to post and retuned back after three months at own expenses. They said they demanded from the accused to return the money but of no avail.
DSP said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act 2014 has been registered against the accused after an inquiry as the incident has occurred in the past.
