Travel agent couple booked for duping man of Rs 4.91 lakhs.

 

NAKODAR

The Mehat Pur police have booked a travel agent couple for allegedly duping a man of Rs 4.91 lakhs on the pretext of sending his children abroad.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar, who is investigating this case, said the accused have been identified as Budh Dass son of Shingara Singh a resident of Bajigar Dera under Salem Taabri police station Ludhiana and his wife Charanjit Kaur.

Sukhdev Raj a resident of Sangowl village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 4.91Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his children’s migration abroad. However, they neither sent his children abroad nor returned the money.

DSP said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act 2014   has been registered against the accused after an inquiry as the incident has occurred in the past.
