The Election Commissioner of India, Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, today attended the 87th Convocation Ceremony at DAV College, Jalandhar, urging young individuals to adopt a positive mindset in life.
While congratulating the graduating students, Dr. Sandhu emphasized that a positive attitude can help achieve great milestones. He encouraged students to stay optimistic, stating that a constructive approach not only leads to success but also helps in overcoming challenges.
He was accompanied by Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Cibin C., Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, and Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur.
As an alumnus of DAV College, Dr. Sandhu inspired the youth to work hard, asserting that there is no shortcut to success. He advised students to pursue careers aligned with their interests rather than blindly following trends.
Expressing pride in returning to his alma mater, he congratulated the institution for organizing the convocation. He was joined by his wife, Mrs. Harleen Kaur Sandhu, and other family members.
The event featured industrialist Rajesh Kumar Sondhi as a special guest, while Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar highlighted the college’s achievements. Around 500 graduate and postgraduate students received degrees, and Dr. Vijay Mahajan, an alumnus, was honoured for his contributions to the pharmaceutical sector.
Earlier, Dr. Sandhu inaugurated the renovated 'Hall of Fame' and planted a sapling as a symbolic gesture for environmental conservation. The event saw the presence of former GNDU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaspal S. Sandhu, senior faculty members, and administrative staff.
