The Lohian Khas police have arrested a criminal on the charges of attempted murder and firing.
Station House Officer (SHO) Labh Singh said the accused have been identified as Dilbag Singh alias Baga son of Satnam Singh a resident of Reharrwan village under Shahkot police station.
Sub Inspector Amandeep Verma of Crime Branch Jalandhar rural police had said in his statement that he with his police team was on petrol duty in Kakarr Kalan village when they received an information that both accused who are absconding accused in a case of firing in a village under Shahkot police station are sitting at a motor in fields on Mohari Wal- Lasurri link road armed with dangerous weapons and planning big incident along with their accomplices and have three vehicles.
Verma had said when the police party reached the spot the accused opened fire and fled towards the railway line and one accused deboarded from a swift car starting firing at the police with intention to kill and he fired from his service revolver in the air warning the accused.
Police officer had said the accused continued firing while hiding behind a bamboo tree and he fired at the accused injuring his left leg and overpowered and arrested him.
SHO said a case under sections 109 (attempt to murder) 132(criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) 221(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 3(5) (committing crime with common intention) of the BNS and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused.
