DC issues strict instructions to address smoke emissions during boiler operations in Bhogpur

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today directed the officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board to ensure strict adherence to the Prevention of Pollution Control Act during the operation of boilers in Bhogpur. The directions were given to the officials during a high-level meeting.

The DC empathize that the necessary measures should be taken to manage smoke emissions during boiler operations in Bhogpur. He emphasized that there would be no leniency on this matter, and strict actions would be initiated in case of any failure. He mentioned that instructions related to regulations have already been issued by the Punjab Pollution Control Board, under which the boiler operators will be required to deposit a bank guarantee. In case of smoke emissions from the boiler, the bank guarantee will be confiscated, and action will be taken to shut down the boiler.

Dr. Aggarwal said that the smoke emissions from the boiler should be handled at the site itself, and if the smoke reaches nearby houses, strict action will be taken against such units. He assured that the district administration would ensure that the residents of the area do not face such issues, and therefore, the implementation of the Pollution Control Act's provisions will be made certain. He also mentioned that in case of violation, the boiler could be shut down. He noted that the smoke emissions from the boiler are managed in an environmentally friendly manner using modern technology.

Dr. Aggarwal also directed the operators of the Bio CNG plant in Bhogpur to comply with the regulations. He further emphasized the need to strictly adhere to the guidelines and provisions of the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the Act.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Pollution Control Board officials to regularly inspect the boilers and the Bio CNG plant according to Government norms. He warned that if any negligence in compliance is found, strict action will be taken.

He also appealed that the orders of the Hon'ble High Court regarding Bio CNG should be followed thoroughly. Additionally, he issued strict instructions that if any shortcomings related to pollution are found, the administration will take stringent action.
