The Mehat Pur police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a Mehat Pur village resident of Rs.16.19 on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)(special branch and criminal intelligence) Vijay Kanwar Pal , who is investigating officer in this case, said that the accused has been identified as Ishjindar Singh son of Mohindar Pal Singh a resident of Umre Wal Billa village under Mehat Pur police station.
Kashmir Singh a resident of Ismail Pur village under Mehat Pur police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 16.19 Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad but he was not sent abroad not returned the money.
DSP said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust) , 420 (cheating)of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry. DSP said case has been registered under IPC as incident occurred in the past .
