The Shahkot police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a Shahkot village resident woman of Rs.14.60 lakhs on the pretext of sending her abroad.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar who is investigating officer in this case said that the accused has been identified as Narindar Singh alias Narindar Kumar son of Gobind Rai a resident of Mandiala village under Mehat Pur police station.
Neetu daughter of Satpal a resident of Kanganna village complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that she paid Rs 14.60 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration abroad but she was not send abroad not returned the money.
DSP said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating)of the IPC and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry. DSP said case has been registered under sections of IPC as incident occurred in the past
