JALANDHAR
CIA Staff of Jalandhar Rural police has arrested a graduate turned drug peddler and seized 150 grams of heroin. The arrest, made near Talhan Gate, Parasrampur, comes as part of the special drive against drug trafficking.
The accused has been identified as Suraj Sharma, son of Ashwani Sharma, resident of village Alachour, who worked with a marriage band group while secretly operating a drug distribution network.
Senior Superintendent of Police Harkanwalpreet Singh Khakh said d that Inspector Pushap Bali, In-charge CIA Staff, received crucial input about drug movement in Patara area. Acting swiftly, a special team was constituted.
The police team intercepted the accused approximately 100 meters behind Talhan Sahib gate, leading to the recovery of 150 gram of high-grade heroin concealed in a wax-sealed envelope.
During initial questioning, the accused revealed his network of supplying heroin from Nawanshahr to various areas in Jalandhar.
A case under sections 21B/61/85of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at Patara police station.
