The Lohian Khas police have booked a woman Sarpanch, Panch and a couple for extortion and criminal intimidation on the orders of a court.
Station House Officer (SHO) Jai Pal said the accused have been identified as Manjit Kaur Sarpanch wife of Sukhwindar Singh a resident of Moti Pur village, Amarjit Kaur Panch wife of Jagjit Singh of the same village. Manpreet Singh son of Darshan Singh a resident of Pitho Rao village under SultanPur Lodhi police station and his wife Sukhwindar Kaur.
SHO said the case has been registered on the order of Judicial Magistrate First Class Nakodar Tarun Preet Singh.
Gurdeep Singh a resident of Moti Pur village has filed a case in the court under section 175(3) BNNS (which empowers a judicial magistrate to direct a police officer to investigate a cognizable matter when the police fail to act) seeking security of his life and property.
He has submitted in the court that the accused under conspiracy stated threaten him with intention of blackmail and filed fake applications in the police to defame him in the society and harassed him in this way.
SHO said the court ordered the police to register a case against culprits and a case under sections 386 (extortion by putting a someone in fear of death or grievous injury) 506(criminal intimidation) and 427 (mischief) of the IPC has been registered against the accused as incident occurred in the past.
