JALANDHAR
Jalandhar Rural Police has busted a gang of burglars and arrested its three members. The gang specifically targeted NRI properties and vacant houses in the region. The police have recovered huge stolen property along with a vehicle used in the commission of these crimes.
The arrested accused have been identified as Kuldeep Kumar, son of Jagat Ram, a native of UP presently residing near PPR Mall, Jalandhar; Sonu Kashap, son of Mule, a native of UP, also residing near PPR Mall; and Parmeet Singh, son of Jaspal Singh, resident of House No. 444/1, Mata Rani Chowk, Model Town, Jalandhar.
Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that the arrests were made during a special operation conducted by the Crime Branch.
SSP Khakh said the gang employed sophisticated techniques, using specialised tools to break into locked houses during nighttime hours. The accused were apprehended while traveling in a car bearing registration number PB 01 E 7724, which was also seized during the operation. The police recovered fifty pieces of stolen taps among other valuables from their possession.
A case under sections 331(04)(lurking house tress pass) and 305(theft in dwelling house ) at Maqusdan police station .
The accused were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
"Initial investigation suggests this gang has been active across multiple districts, specifically targeting properties belonging to NRIs and vacant houses. The police remand will help us uncover the full extent of their criminal activities and identify potential accomplices," said SSP Khakh.
