JALANDHAR
Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested a notorious smuggler with 50 grams of heroin during a special operation conducted in the Kartarpur area.
The arrested accused has been identified as Baldev Singh alias Ballo, son of Narinder Singh, a resident of Jagatpura village under Jhabal police station Tarn Taran.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that acting on specific inputs, a special team of CIA Staff Jalandhar Rural, , conducted the operation near Link Road Kishangarh.
Inspector Pushap Bali intercepted the accused who was spotted on a white TVS Apache motorcycle (PB02-DD-3473). Upon thorough search, the team recovered 50 grams of heroin concealed under the motorcycle's seat in a wax-sealed envelope.
SSP Khakh added that the accused has a history of involvement in illicit drug trade and liquor smuggling.
The police have registered a case under sections 21-B/61/85/ of the NDPS Act at Kartarpur police station.
SSP Khakh said that the police are conducting a thorough investigation to trace the source of the contraband and identify potential buyers and
a detailed examination of the accused's movable and immovable assets is underway for appropriate legal action.
