The Shahkot police have arrested a travel agent for allegedly duping a man of Rs 15 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) (special crime branch) Rashpal Singh, the investigating officer in this case said that the accused had been identified as Vikash Sharma son of Jasdeep Sharma, a resident of Parkash Avenue—Kapurthala City.
Balwant Singh, a resident of Puniyan village, had complained to the Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he had paid Rs 15 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad. However, he was neither sent abroad nor returned the money.
DSP said a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 406(breach of trust) of the IPC and section 13 of the Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014 was registered against the accused after an inquiry,
