JALANDHAR:
The Jalandhar Rural Police have busted an inter-state drug smuggling network and seized 50 grams of heroin. Two persons involved in bringing drugs from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab have been arrested in this operation.
Police have arrested Sadiq alias Shika, son of Bashir Ahmed from Kakka Kandyala, Tarn Taran, and Muradin alias Muradu, son of Shafi Muhammad from Ward No. 07 near Shani Mandir, Balachor, who currently lives in Cheema Batha Raia, Amritsar.
Senior Superintendent of Police Harkanwalpreet Singh Khakh told the media that the operation was carried out under SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath, and DSP Investigation Sarwanjit Singh. Pushap Bali, in charge of CIA Staff Jalandhar Rural, led the operation after receiving specific information about heroin smuggling in Adampur area.
On January 19, 2025, acting on a tip-off, the CIA Staff team led by Labh Singh stopped a Swift car (HR-29-AB-2450) near Nehr Puli Rest House, Adampur. During checking, police found 50 grams of heroin hidden in the car's dashboard. Though the accused tried to run away, the police team caught them. Police have registered a case under section 21-C-/ 61/85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Adampur.
