Akal Pur village murder case solved; two arrested

In a breakthrough, the Jalandhar Rural Police solved a murder case within 24 hours, arresting two accused in connection with the killing of a man in Akalpur village under  Phillaur police station

The accused have been identified as Lakhvir Singh, son of Pyara Singh, and Arvinder Singh, son of Kewal Singh, both residents of Bakkapur village.

 Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told the media that the swift action was carried out under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasrup Kaur Bath and DSP Phillaur Sarwan Singh Bal. The accused were arrested a special team led by Sanjeev Kapur, SHO of Phillaur Police Station.

The arrests were made in connection with the murder of Jagtar Singh, a resident of Akalpur village, who was killed on January 5, 2025.

SSP Khakh added that the incident was reported by the victim's wife, Seema Rani, who filed a complaint stating that her husband was attacked by a group of 7-8 individuals around 7:00 PM on January 5. The assailants, armed with deadly weapons, had targeted the victim due to a longstanding dispute.
A case under Sections 103(2)(murder), 61(2)(criminal conspiracy, 191(3)( liability of owner, occupier of land for whose benefit riot is committed), and 190 (unlawful assembly )of the BNS was registered against the accused at Phillaur Police Station.
The accused have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.

 

SSP Khakh said that raids are being conducted to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
