The Nurmahal police have arrested a villager for using cast remarks.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh said the accused had been identified as Amanpreet Singh alias Kala, son of Nirmal Singh, a resident of Batura village.
Buta Ram a resident of the same village had complained to the police that the accused used caste remarks against him assaulted him ransacked the house of Harjindar alias Jindi and used caste remarks with whom the accused had earlier quarrelled.
DSP said a case under sections 3(1) (R)(S) of the Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes Act 1989 and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) 324(2) (mischief) and 3(5) (committing a crime with common intention) of the BNS was registered against the accused.
