NAKODAR

The Nakodar City police have booked eight miscreants including three members of a family on the charge of attacking a police officer.

Investigating officer (IO) Dilbag Singh said that the accused have been identified as Mandeep Singh son of Pal Singh a resident of Merra Pur village, his brother Amanveer Singh and son Gurveer Singh, Golu son of Babu Ram, Bhagat Veer Singh son of Gurjit Singh and Harman son of Jaspal residents of the same village and their two unidentified accomplices.

Amrik Singh assistant sub inspection of traffic staff in Jalandhar (rural) said in his statement that he was on duty with his staff near Sharak Pur village on Shankar-Nakodar Road and was checking vehicles and their drivers with Alcolmeter.

He said that the accused Mandeep Singh came driving his scooter from Shankar village side in an inebriated condition and when he tried to check the accused with Alcometer accused started misbehaving with police and used abusive language and phoned other accused who reached the spot and attacked him, and his colleagues tore their uniforms snatched a smartphone and threatened them. 

 

 IO said a case under sections 115(2)(voluntary causing hurt)221(obstructing public servant in discharge of public function ),132(assault or criminal; force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty 121(1) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty )309(4) (robbery ) 351(2) (criminal intimidation ) 191(3)(rioting ) and 190(unlawful assembly of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
