The Shahkot police have arrested a woman on the charges of extortion, cheating, and snatching
Station House Officer (SHO) Jatinder Singh Investigating Officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said that the accused had been identified as Mamta Ranni' wife Kashmir Singh a resident of Kalarru village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station in Kapurthala.
Narinder Singh (58) a resident of Jain Pur village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station had complained to the police that he was running a commission agent shop in Sultan Pur Lodhi grain market and received a phone call on September 9. The caller introduced himself as his old labourer claiming to have worked at his shop for many years and offered to provide the labour force and invited him to his village Said Pur Jhirri village.
The complainant had said he reached the village and asked the caller's exact location of the house and when he reached there one person accompanied him inside to a room where the half-naked girl was sitting on a bed, and three unidentified accused came and pushed him onto the bed.
Narinder Singh had said in his complaint that all the accused demanded Rs 5 Lakhs from him threatening to register a rape case against him if he does not pay money.
The complainant had said when he refused to accept their demand the accused started beating him for a long time and stanched Rs 15000, an Apple watch, and four ATMs forcing him to disclose PIN codes and to sign a cheque for SBI.
Narinder Singh had said that the accused drew Rs 20,000 using his ATMs and demanded more money by calling him and threatening him to keep his mouth shut and video graphed indecent acts inside the room. He had said the video was made viral on social media adding that he had recognized one accused Joshan Preet Singh who planned a conspiracy.
SHO said a case under sections 308(2) (extortion by putting a person in fear of injury) 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 304(snatching) of the BNS was registered against the accused and her four accomplices.
