NURMAHAL
In the year 2006 police station Nurmahal was in a private building. People of the town took the initiative and donated six kanals of 18 marlas land belonging to Patti for the city and spent Rs. 25.00 lakhs to construct the building for police station Nurmahal. However, government authorities took no further action to complete the building. The 6 kanals and 14 marlas land stand mutated in the name of common owners.
As a result, even after 18 years, the police department could not give the building its last touches because the land could not be mutated in favour of the police department.
Nurmahal Nagar Council in its meeting held on 11-06-2012 passed a unanimous resolution number 40 for transferring 6 kanals 18 marlas land to the police department for the construction of the building for Nurmahal police station which has been rejected by the director of local government.
Residents repeatedly urged the then Chief Ministers P.S.Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Charanjit Singh Channi, and Chief Minster Bhagwant Singh Mann to approve the resolution so that mutation of land is sanctioned in favour of the Punjab Police for completing the building of the police station but to no avail.
On the spot, the study revealed that construction of barracks for cops, boundary walls, flooring, and parking spaces for impounded vehicles are needed.
