JALANDHAR

Ahead of the upcoming Municipal Committee elections, Jalandhar Rural Police conducted extensive flag marches in the poll-bound towns of Bhogpur, Bilga, Shahkot, and Goraya today. The marches were led by Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) along with Station House Officers (SHOs) of respective areas, accompanied by heavy police contingents.

Addressing media persons, the SSP Jalandhar Rural Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the flag marches, conducted with an impressive show of force, aimed at instilling confidence among voters and deterring anti-social elements in these municipalities. "Our objective is to ensure peaceful, free, and fair elections in all four towns under our jurisdiction," he said.

He added that the flag marches included rural rapid response teams, PCR motorcycles, police riders, and various other units demonstrating the police’s preparedness for the upcoming polls. The heavy deployment of force in these areas underscores the police's commitment to maintaining law and order during the electoral process.

As part of the security arrangements, PCR teams and patrolling units have been placed on high alert in these four towns and surrounding areas. Police have established strategic checkpoints and intensified night surveillance. A special verification drive of recently released prisoners has also been initiated, with police teams conducting regular checks at their residences.

Earlier in the day, a comprehensive review meeting was held where police personnel were briefed about election security protocols and winter season preparedness. The police administration has urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or the Police Control Room.

The SSP Khakh assured that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process, emphasizing the department's commitment to conducting peaceful elections in all four municipalities.
