JALANDHAR /PHILLAUR/NAKODAR
As per the schedule of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and under the guidance of the Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill District & Sessions Judge-cum-chairman DLSA Jalandhar, National Lok Adalat was organized on Saturday in Jalandhar, Nakodar, and Phillaur.
In this Lok Adalat, which total of 56025 pre-litigative and pending Criminal Compoundable Offences, Traffic challenges, NI Act cases under Section-138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour disputes, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity and Water Bills (Excluding non-compoundable theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and Retiral benefits, Revenue Cases and other Civil Cases (Rent, Easmentary Rights, injunction Suits, specific performance suits) were taken up.
In this National Lok Adalat, 19 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were being presided over by the Judicial Officers at Jalandhar.
Besides this, 4 benches at Sub-Division, Phillaur and Nakodar were also constituted and these were presided over the Judicial officers of Nakodar and Phillaur.
For the successful organization of this National Lok Adalat, Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, District & Sessions Judge had called various meetings of Judicial officers, Presidents and Secretaries of the Bar Associations Jalandhar, Nakodar and Phillaur, officials of other Departments i.e. Banks, Electricity Department, Labour Department, Insurance Companies etc. to sensitize them about the National Lok Adalat. They were also motivated and instructed to identify a maximum number of cases that could be taken up in the National Lok Adalat and to make maximum efforts for disposal of the same in the Pre-Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat.
Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, District & Sessions Judge Jalandhar informed that in this National Lok Adalat 56025 cases were taken up out of which 54674 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards of an amount of Rs.34,91,25,901/- were passed by the different Lok Adalat benches.
Sh. Rahul Kumar, CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA, Jalandhar informed that the Lok Adalats are being organized from time to time for disposal of pending and pre-litigation cases by way of compromise. He further stated that the next Lok Adalat shall be held on 08.03.2025.
