The Mehat Pur police have booked five persons on the charges of assaulting a youth.
Investigating Officer (IO) Harwindar Singh said that the accused had been identified as Balvir Singh and Ajay Kumar both residents of Mehat Pur town, Babbi and Rakesh of Udhowal village, and Kalu of Ramu Wal village.
Davindar Singh a 26-year-old resident of Mehat Put complained to the police that the accused assaulted and seriously injured him on November 28.
IO said a case under section 115(2),.118(1) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 191(3) (rioting) and 190(unlawful assembly) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
