The Mehat Pur police are reeling under acute staff shortage. There are only 38 police personnel against a sanctioned strength of 111 personnel. There are two posts of sub-inspectors out of which one is vacant
Out of the 14 sanctioned posts of head constable 13 posts are lying vacant while out of the 85 posts of constables, 71 are lying vacant. Sources said Home Guards volunteers were doing the job of constables patrolling had been reduced and investigations were suffering. Sources said the shortage of constables is a serious problem being faced by munshi to deal with local complaints.
Some police personnel are performing duties outside the police station.
Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that we are comfortably manning the police stations of Jalandhar.
