The total purchase of paddy by the state government and private agencies from farmers crossed 16 Lakhs 05 thousand and 618 quintals on Wednesday which is less than last year’s purchase of 16 Lakhs 77 thousand 064 quintals on this day in grain markets under the jurisdiction of the Shahkot market committee.
Committee secretary Tejindar Kumar said last year’s total paddy purchase was 17 Lakhs 02 thousand and 836 quintals which could not be achieved this year
He said 15lakhs 11 thousand and 167 quintals of purchased paddy have been lifted from grain markets and farmers have been paid for their crop till November 23.
