The total purchase of paddy by the state government and private agencies from farmers crossed 11 lakhs 48 thousand and 56 quintals on Wednesday less than last year’s total purchase of 12 lakhs 89 thousand and 32quintals in grain markets under the jurisdiction of the
Nakodar market committee member Varinder Kumar said the government agencies aim to purchase close to 12 lakh quintals of paddy.
He said 7 lakhs 93 thousand and 331 quintals of purchased paddy have been lifted from grain markets and farmers have been paid for their crop till November 16.
