In a breakthrough, Jalandhar rural police solved a murder case of a woman within five hours of receiving the complaint and arrested the main accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told media that the accused has been identified as Liaqat Ali alias Balzai son of Muhammad Safi a resident of Garraha village under Phillaur police station
SSP said the accused and his brother had murdered Shakura wife of Liaquat Ali a resident of Ashahur village and threw the body of the deceased in the pond of Atta village under Goraya police station.
As per the police version, the accused Liaquat Ali had developed illicit relations with the deceased Shakura. On the day of the incident, the accused along with his brother Abdul Gani met the victim near the canal. An altercation ensued during which Liaqat Ali strangled Shakura. The accused, with the help of his brother, disposed of the body in the village pond to destroy evidence.
SSP said a case under sections 103(murder) and, 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) against the accused and his brother Abdul Gani who is absconding at Phillaur police station on a statement of the husband of the deceased.
