Recovery of 102 Kilograms of poppy husk has led the Jalandhar (rural) police to expose the nefarious conspiracy of convicted smugglers serving their sentences in different jails of the state.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Har Kamal Preet Singh Khakh said the police have nominated three convicted smugglers in this case, who are serving their sentences in Kapurthala and Goind Wal jails. The police also recovered mobile phones used by the criminals.
SSP said the accused has been identified as Parmatma Singh alias Bhola son of Jagir Singh a resident of Saichan village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station in Kapurthala adding that the accused is the father of Karan—the main accused in this case.
SSP said another resident of this village serving a sentence in Going Wal jail has also been nominated in this case and is identified as Gurdit Singh alias Gitu son of Gurnam Singh. SSP said the third nominated jailed smuggler has been identified as Boharr Singh, a resident of Dhole Wal village in Moga and inmate of Going Wal jail who is the father of Sonu the second main accused.
SSP said nominated smugglers were guiding their kin in the drug trade and fabricating vehicles for transporting contraband from other states
The Shahkot police had registered a case under sections 15-C-/61/85 of the NDPS Act in this connection.
