Eight villagers booked for outraging religious feelings of co-villager.

 The Lohian Khas police have booked eight villagers on the charge of intending to insult the religion of any class.

Investigating officer (IO) Prem Chand said that the accused had been identified as Jagtar Singh son of Gian Singh a resident of Kakarr Kalan village, his brothers Parambir Singh and Gurmail Singh, Chandan Deep Singh, Harman Singh, Lovpreet Singh and Jaskaran Singh all residents of the same village.

Bhupindar Singh a resident of Kakarr Kalan village complained to the police that the village sarpanch's husband phoned him on November 10 morning to attend a public meeting and he reached there.

The complainant said all the accused reached on spot and questioned his presence by naming his caste and attacking him removing his turban pulling his hair dragging him plucking his beard and thus insulting his religious feelings as he is baptized Sikh.

 

IO said a case under sections 298(injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 190(unlawful assembly) of the BNS has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made.
