The Nakodar Sadar police have booked three members of a family on charges of cheating, and criminal conspiracy.
Investigating Officer (IO)Kulwinder Singh said that the accused have been identified as Surinder Singh son of Jogindar Singh a resident of Bajwa Kalan village under Shahkot police station, his wife Gurbaksh Kaur, and daughter Gagan Veer Kaur.
Dalveer Singh a resident of Kang Sahib Rai village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that the accused conspired in a planned way and cheated him and his family of Rs 35.40 lakhs.
SSP marked an inquiry to the deputy superintendent of police (investigation) who after the probe recommended the registration of a case.
IO said a case under sections 420(cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
