JALANDHAR

In a major success against drug trafficking, Jalandhar(rural) police arrested three accused involved in narcotics smuggling. They seized 300 grams of heroin from their possession during a special operation conducted at a checkpoint near the Sutlej Bridge in Phillaur.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vinay Pratap Singh alias Vinay, son of Narinder Singh, resident of Talwandi Kalan under Ladowal police station in Ludhiana; Vishal Singh alias Shalu, son of Satnam Singh, and Jagdish Singh alias Dishi, son of Pritam Singh, residents of Rorawala under Gharinda police station in Amritsar.


Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that during the checkpoint at the Sutlej Bridge, a team of  Phillaur SHO intercepted a motorcycle carrying four individuals. One of the suspects managed to flee before reaching the checkpoint, while the other three were arrested. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of 300 grams of heroin.

 

A case under sections 21/C/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at Phillaur police station
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had been bringing heroin from Boparai village in Amritsar district and supplying it to customers in the Talwandi Kalan, Ludhiana, and Phillaur areas. Notably, Vishal Singh alias Shalu has a previous case involving half a kilogram of heroin registered at the Police Station in Amritsar district.

 SHO said the accused's absconding accomplice,  has been identified as Ajay Kumar,  son of Balwinder Singh a resident of  Talwandi Kalan village, Ludhiana.

SSP Khakh reiterated that Jalandhar Rural Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and assured the public of continued action against those involved in illegal activities.
