Four of family among five booked for using caste remarks, intimidation.

 

NAKODAR

The Nakodar Sadar police have booked five persons four of the family members on the charges of using cast remarks, criminal intimidation, and blocking pathways.

Investigating officer (IO) Janak Raj said that the accused have been identified as Mukhtiar Singh a resident of Eeda village, his wife Kulvinder Kaur sons Harpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi and Amrit Pal son of Ajit Singh a resident of the same village.

Amarjit Singh a resident of the same village complained to the police that he was going outside in his vehicle and when he was about to reach the main road found the road blocked by the accused Harpreet Singh who had parked his vehicle there.

The complainant said when he requested the accused to give way to his vehicle he refused to do so and fled and came back with his father mother brother and another accomplice and started using caste remarks and abusive language against him and threatened him.  

 

IO said a case under sections 285 (obstruction in a public way),351(3) (criminal intimidation) 191(3) (rioting) 190 (unlawful assembly) of the BNS and section 3 of the Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes Act 1989 has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
