NURMAHAL
The trade license of a commission agent (Arhtiya), who was allegedly over-weighing the produce of a farmer at a new grain market in Nurmahal has been suspended.
The grain market falls under the Nurmahal Market Committee and the action was taken by its administrator and sub-division magistrate(SDM) Phillaur Aman Pal Singh after receiving an inspecting report from Nurmahal Naib Tehsildar Kulwindar Singh following the instructions of deputy commissioner Dr.Himanshu Agarwal.
SDM said during the random checking, a firm was found guilty of weighing 400g more per bag whereas the standard weight is 37.5kg per bag.
Singh said that during the inspection, the produce of the farmer brought to the firm Dhan Guru Ram Dass Trading company owned by Arshdeep Singh son of Gurwinder Singh of Ramew Wal village for procurement was being weighed more than 400 grams per bag.
