The Mehat Pur police have booked a villager for violating an order duly promulgated by a public servant by burning paddy stubble fields.
Investigating Officer (IO)Avtar Singh said
the suspect had been identified as Baldev Singh a resident of Salema village.
IO said the police received a satellite report on WhatsApp on paddy burning fields in Salema village. They reached the spot and saw paddy stubble burning fields. They inquired about the owner and cultivator from prominent persons who verified the suspect violating an order by the Jalandhar deputy commissioner.
IO said a case under section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the BNS has been registered against the suspect, adding that the police also booked an unidentified suspect for burning stubble fields in Gobind Garh/Lohgarh village.
IO Avtar Singh said the Lohian Khas police also booked an unidentified suspect for burning paddy stubble fields in Done Wal village.
