The Ahartia Association demanded that the procurement and lifting should be started simultaneously which was done on the instructions of DC Faridkot.

Ashok Goel said that about 2.5 lakh paddy bags of dry paddy were lying in the grain market Kotakpura for many days.
He thanked the DC Faridkot for his all kinds of assistance to speed up the procurement.
The DC further ordered the rice millers to sign the agreements with the government according to the press note by President of Ahartia Association Kotkapura Ashok Kumar Goel.
Goel said that as for the dry paddy is concerned, the farmers would not face any problem about it.
Farmers woes
Balwinder Singh from Bir Sikhan Wala and Jagmeet Singh said that there commission agents said that they unload the produce at home becasue there would be glut in market.
But again loading the paddy into trollies is a uphill task becasue of acute shortage of labour.
Small court yards also donot allow farmers to unload the paddy produce of many acres which they might have taken on lease.
Gurpreet Singh, another farmer from a Faridkot village said that he would have to wait for seven days for selling his produce since the procurement starts as there were were 27 farmers ahead of line to sell their produce.
Spending days in the grain market is just like living in hell becasue of no facilities at all.
