Anita elected Sarpanch of village Bir Sikhan Wala

Anita,30, a matriculate has been elected the sarpanch of village Bir Sikhan Wala.

She bagged 308 votes out of a total of 496.

There were four candidates in the fray in the village, but Anita got a big lead.

“I will try my best to carry out all developmental works in the village. We shall carry everyone from the village along with us and try our best to sort out any disputes in the village amicably by the Panchayat,” said Anita.

“Our priority would be to beautify the village, keep sanitation, and provide pure drinking water to all. All the people would be given equal treatment as developmental works are concerned. We shall make the village clean and green,” said Jasvinder Singh Bunty,husband of the Sarpanch, a graduate and social worker.

Anita and Jasvinder on Wednesday went door to door to thank all for their support and locals welcomed them and garlanded them.

The post of village sarpanch was reserved for SC women.
