The Shahkot police have arrested five accused including a woman on charges of extortion, cheating, and snatching
Investigating Officer (IO) Gurnam Singh said that the accused had been identified as Barkha daughter of Roop Singh a resident of Mehraj Wala village, Jaskaran Gill alias Jassa son of Malkit Singh a resident of Said Pur Jhirri village Barjesh Kumar son of Sohann Lal a resident of Sandha Wal village Rajesh Kumar alias Sunni son of Sohann Lal a resident of Dhando Wal village and Buta Singh son of Shingara Singh a resident of Mohalla Balmik, Talwann village under Bilga police station
Narinder Singh (58), a resident of Jain Pur village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station, had complained to the police that the accused had looted Rs 15000, an Apple watch, and four ATMs, and forced g him to disclose PIN codes and sign a cheque of SBI at Said Pur Jhirri village on September 9. He had said Joban Preet Singh had conspired to loot him by inviting him to the Said Pur Jhirri village to provide labour force for his business
IO said a case under sections 308(2) (extortion by putting a person in fear of injury), 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 304(snatching) of the BNS was registered against the accused including a woman who is absconding.IO said main conspirator Joban Preet Singh, son of Major Singh, a resident of Chanann Windi village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station Kapurthala was arrested on Tuesday.
