Chairman Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Chandan Grewal, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today flagged off a cyclathon organized by the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation in honour of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. The rally, held under the Swachh Bharat Mission, aimed to spread awareness about cleanliness across the city. Municipal Commissioner Gautam Jain led the events.
In addition to the cyclathon, several other activities, including a painting competition, rangoli competition, essay writing, and speeches, were held to commemorate the day. The Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner lauded the Municipal Corporation's efforts, noting their commitment to raising public awareness regarding cleanliness through these engaging initiatives. Participants enthusiastically took part, reflecting the community's dedication to maintaining a clean and green environment in line with Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a Swachh Bharat. They mentioned that this event will go a long way in sensitizing people to adopt best practices from a cleanliness standpoint. The exhibition related to this mission also became an attraction point among visitors.
Notably, more than 300 peddlers participated in the Cycle Rally. Similarly, over 1000 students participated in these events from different schools and colleges, who received prizes after the events.
