JALANDHAR

The Jalandhar(rural) police have disposed of seized drugs from 68 cases under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The contraband, confiscated during various anti-narcotics operations, was destroyed under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee, led by Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh.

The drugs destroyed include 62 kg 300 gm of poppy husk, 932 gm of heroin, 270 gm of intoxicant powder, 10 gm of ganja, 850 gm of charas, along with 290 tablets and 14 injections classified as medicinal drugs. The disposal took place at an authorized facility, adhering to the legal procedures mandated by the NDPS Act.

 SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told media that the case property was destroyed under Section 52 A of the NDPS Act by the Drug Disposal Committee, which includes the SP Headquarters and DSP Headquarters. This disposal is a crucial step in our continued efforts to rid society of the menace of drugs.

He further highlighted that the destruction of such a significant quantity of drugs sends a strong message to traffickers about the police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law. The SSP assured that the entire disposal process followed strict guidelines, ensuring transparency and accountability.

The heroin alone, valued at several crores in the international market, underscores the magnitude of the operations conducted by Jalandhar Rural Police. The destruction was carried out as per the NDPS Act’s regulations, ensuring that no confiscated drugs could re-enter illegal circulation.
